Drunk driver races wrong way in Buenos Aires

On Sunday morning, a serious accident occurred in the Flores neighborhood of Buenos Aires. According to witnesses, a man in a Chevrolet Tracker was driving at high speed in the wrong direction while under the influence of alcohol. He traveled at least five blocks in the opposite direction on Juan Bautista Alberdi Avenue before crashing into a gray Citroën carrying a family.

"We were on Lafuente Avenue, and he was coming against traffic, fast, drunk, and he hit us," the victims said, who were traveling from Guernica to go shopping.

As a result of the collision, the Citroën overturned. Six people, including an 11-year-old child, were taken to the hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to the hospital under guard with minor injuries, while the female driver of the Citroën, who suffered a severe panic attack, was taken to Álvarez Hospital.

"He couldn't stand up, they helped him sit down, he couldn't even speak," indignantly recounted the father of the driver of the hit vehicle.

Authorities are currently awaiting the results of the alcohol test and analysis of security cameras to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
